"Reclaim Your Pay" victorious in Mile End restaurant

I worked only a month for a restaurant (Another Restaurant) as a dishwasher in Mile End. It was not the job of the century, we get along, but it was not extreme suffering either. During my short time as a dishwasher, I was quiet and I was doing my job properly, nothing more. At my first pay, I noticed we had paid me $ 1 / hour less than promised and had "Forgot" to pay me 8 happinessis. I'm going claimed my due and paid me. For my second pay (and my laste fact), I had to wait (and fight) for just over 2 months for the 230$ are missing.

After several attempts to contact my employer without it gives something, I decided to contact the IWW. I knew we would be able to help me and support me so that I get my last check. I met a union delegate, Maxime, and we have developed a strategy : it reopens the restaurant a few times and then, if it does not release, it shows up in person on the workplace. This is exactly what happened. Despite my several calls, they still refused to pay me and still, pretending that I could not prove having worked (there was no "punch" in the restaurant). Short, the big employers rhetorical shit. So I have wrote a letter to my employer to recall the various Demarches and claim my paie. Maxime and me, we went to the place of Working with this letter. after thatelques minutes waiting, as if by magic, the restaurant owner is pointed with an envelope containing a check my name (I handed him the letter, but I doubt she has read).

This is not a great victory Schoolslatante. But still I am very grateful for the work of Maxime and the IWW in this whole unpleasant situation. It is necessary to continue to fight for our rights as workers, workers, unemployed workers. This is why I joined the union as a result of it!
