The SITT-IWW wins Reclaim Your Payroll against a private daycare in Minneapolis

Last summer, Anja, IWW member since Minneapolis, lost his job at the daycare
Crocus Hill Academy St-Paul have Minnesota. He was told that the dismissal was because she had had conversations with colleagues and ancien.nes colleagues about problems they had with them and their boss, a man named Imran Khan. Two weeks later, Anja had not received neither her final pay, nor the copy of his file, nor even his personal affairs. Three members of the intersectoral Local Minneapolis therefore accompanied Anja daycare order to deliver a letter demanding the handover of what was due to him. Khan responded aggressively, shouting and threatening the union delegation, Anja he accused of abusing children, refused to take the letter and called the police for the latter asked the members of the IWW présent.es to leave.

The next day a larger group of IWW members stood before the center to distribute pamphlets. While Khan, true to form, howling from the front door, Union members discussed with the parents of the dismissal of Anja and problems that had pushed to talk with colleagues. Since Khan persisted in refusing to take the letter intended for him, Members of Minneapolis decided to conduct phone campaigns and via social networks against the
Crocus Hill Academy. Just days later, Anja received a call from the new director of the daycare begging her to give him a copy of the requests that Khan had denied. She has since received his pay and a $ 120 check for compensation for his personal effects and his record that Khan ”lost”.

Liars bumps and manipulators of such Imran Khan are a danger to all salarié.es, especially when they start punishing workers for supposedly protected activities such as the right to talk about working conditions or stolen wages. When we decide to act seul.es or we try to use government assistance, we drop our power to fight but, when we group ourselves with others as we salarié.es, then we can get what is rightfully ours.

Victory is achieved by direct action and solidarity.
