The employé.es of Frite Alors Rachel unionize with the IWW

We handle the preparation, cooking and service. We take care of the household and security and whene something is not, we are the first and first concerné.es, and the first and first to respond.

We believe that this should give us the right to negotiate our working conditions and these conditions should include respect and a better life.

Our union is both collective and independent voice of Fry of salarié.es So who think they and they deserve more than the minimum which is currently submitted their.
Collective, because if it is together that we roll the chain, it is together that we will improve our living conditions. and independent, because if we refuse to be téléguider by Cholesterol More, not to enter the game of big either central.

For us improve our working conditions begins at Frite Alors, but continues well beyond a vision or welfare of the human being comes before the profit.

-Montréal, 26 August 2016- The employee-s restaurant located at Frites Alors 433 Rachel Street East in Montreal today announced the founding of the Union of workers and workers of Frite Alors. Indeed, after been particularly testing they and they claimed-e-s for better working conditions and decided to form a union to establish a dialogue with management.

Since spring 2016, Labor Relations were particularly strained. Management demanded for years that e-s-employee pay meals e-s-customers not paying their bills, for imbalances of the body, the barrel and inventory. The retention pay by an employer is a practice totally illegal and does not respect labor standards. The workers and restaurant workers have organized so-e-s on these bases and their concerted actions have permitted to solve the problems listed above.

Furthermore, the intense heat of the summer and the employers' refusal to install a
adequate air conditioning brought the employee-s to work in deplorable conditions. After much time and energy invested by the workers, the employer has partially solved the problem, but the air is still not effective. Since that time, the employer refuses to talk.

Frite staff then claims including a wage increase, time off
disease, formations, etc. The creation of a union and will stabilize the rolling of employee-s.

The revendications

Salary :
– 2$/h to everyone in the kitchen (by salary already in force on that date)
– 1,80$/h to the waitresses
– 0,50$/hours more per year of service for the kitchen, in addition to the 2% provided by the waitresses, 1% sales provided by management
– financial compensation when you are on call (with an hourly rate or a fixed amount)

Disease :
– 5 paid sick days per year
– cross training for everyone (training for each position) facilitating replacements

Job :
– that the positions that open are offered internally ( post plaqueman or server / may well be offered to fritemen
– have team meetings
– have a minimum of 20 hours of work per week guarantees, on request of employ.é.e

    By what means do you intend to put pressure on the employer to make him give ? What will prevent him from dismissing the leaders and cheerleaders if there is no request for accreditation ?

      Hello David,
      Sorry for the delay in the response. As you have probably seen, a waitress was actually fired, then was re-engagné following the occupation of the restaurant. Also, if negotiations continue, wage increases have already taken place in the kitchen. At the IWW we consider that our best weapon, as our best shield, rest solidarity among all workers and all workers!
