Le SITT-IWW ( Industrial Union of Workers – Industrial Worders of the World – colloquially called Wobblies) officially voted to support the boycott movement, Divestments and Sanctions (BDS) in favor of Palestinian rights. The " resolution in support of Palestinian/Israeli workers » was adopted by an overwhelming majority by the IWW assembly in Minneapolis and by members by referendum. With this vote, SITT-IWW is the first union in the United States and the third in Canada to officially support the Palestinian call for boycotts, Divestments and Sanctions.

Inspired by the fight against apartheid in South Africa, the BDS movement calls for boycotts, divestments and sanctions against Israel until basic Palestinian rights are recognized. The BDS call is supported by a large part of Palestinian society, and in particular by the Palestinian unions.

The resolution supporting the BDS campaign comes from the work of the SITT-IWW International Solidarity Commission and the SITT-IWW Friends of Palestinian Workers organization., a grassroots network of wobblies who support the Palestinian struggle, Israeli and international against Israeli apartheid. Palestinian workers strongly emphasized support for the BDS campaign during their meetings with members of the SITT-IWW delegation to Palestine, particularly the Independent Federation of Palestine Workers, with which IWW maintains very close ties of solidarity.

« For a union loving international solidarity, supporting the BDS movement is right », said Nathaniel Miller, membre du SITT-IWW, elected to the International Solidarity Commission and member of the SITT-IWW delegation in Palestine. « By officially supporting the BDS call, SITT-IWW stands shoulder to shoulder with Palestinian workers in global picket line against Israeli apartheid ».

« Our support for the BDS movement follows our traditional principles of the fight against racism and international solidarity ».

SITT-IWW Friends of Palestinian Workers is committed to advancing the cause of Palestinian rights inside and outside SITT-IWW.

Founded in 1905, SITT-IWW is a union with a long tradition of solidarity and anti-militarism, he was at the center of some of the most important struggles in American working class history. More recently, SITT-IWW has successfully established itself at Starbucks and the fast food industry, workers who for a long time were thought impossible to organize into a union. The SITT-IWW is an international union, with members in North America, in Europe, in Australia, and in South Africa (*).
